Tara’s goal is to be the best legal advisor that she can be for her clients, and to do that every day with wisdom, integrity, humility, empathy, and a touch of humor. In her new role as head of the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution department at Lawyer For Car Accident, she is able to do just that and much more. While her practice is focused primarily on Real Property (i.e., land-based disputes) and Product Law, she also deals with general commercial litigation disputes and cross-border issues. She has had the privilege of counseling clients of all sizes and from a wide variety of industries, especially those in the real estate, development, and construction industry, on various corporate, property, construction, insurance, product liability, and insolvency/restructuring issues.
Her clients often contact her before litigation has begun, when they receive a threatening letter or sense that the deal is not going the way they expected. She also has clients who contact her to advise them on contracts that they have already signed. They know that she will be able to use her experience, in both the business and legal world, to try and find a solution or broker a deal that will avoid a lengthy dispute.

Louis’s distinguished legal career is marked by a wealth of achievements. Admitted to the Bar in 1985, Louis began his professional journey by specializing in insurance defense litigation, where he gained extensive trial experience.
Transitioning to a firm focusing on general litigation in 1989, Louis broadened his expertise to encompass a wide range of legal areas. From real estate disputes to commercial conflicts, contractual intricacies to franchise litigation, and beyond, Louis’s proficiency knew no limits. He skillfully navigated estate matters, collections, wrongful dismissal cases, employment disputes, professional malpractice claims, construction conflicts, and fraud allegations with unwavering competence. Louis’s legal acumen extended to criminal and provincial offenses, cementing his reputation as a versatile litigator.
With over 150 trials under his belt, spanning both jury and non-jury proceedings in Ontario courts, Louis’s courtroom presence is impressive. His expertise has led him to the Supreme Court of Canada, where his advocacy has made a lasting impact on Canadian jurisprudence.

Mary Sterner is a partner at Lawyer For Car Accident.
Since her call to the bar, her practice has been primarily dedicated to representing injured parties involved in motor vehicle collisions, premises liability cases, product liability incidents, and criminal assault matters.
She has conducted numerous mediations, case conferences, pre-hearings, hearings, and arbitration proceedings with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, and the Licence Appeal Tribunal. Mary also frequently appears before the Superior Court of Justice.
In her leisure time, Mary enjoys exploring new destinations, watching thought-provoking documentaries, writing short stories, and undertaking DIY home improvement projects.
